About us

Belconnen Arts Centre opened in 2009 with the objective of being the centre of arts and cultural activity in Belconnen. BAC is a small team of staff supported by a number of volunteers who together present a broad program of events to engage the community, in Belconnen and beyond! The Centre hosts a program of outstanding events including exhibitions, creative workshops, dance, concert, markets and festivals.

Naturally, a Book

The exhibition program attracts visual artists both locally and nationally who present work of all mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, poetry and multimedia. BAC also runs a very successful Artist in Residence program, applications are always welcome.

The creative workshops are run for both adults and children and are often presented by artists who have work included in the exhibition program. Art classes for kids of all ages encourage children to experiment and get creative, while having lots of fun! BAC also presents a number of music workshops run for little ones.

The Centre is home to a Dance Studio where classes of all genres are taught, including Bollywood, Hilal, Flamenco, Sumba, Hip Hop and Dancehall! There are a variety of classes for children, adults and seniors. The concert program has featured Jazz, World, Chamber, Rock, Local, Blues and everything in between. Concerts are performed in the spacious foyer area, overlooking sparkling Lake Ginninderra.

Belconnen Arts Centre supports local artists and craft makers with a number of markets, including the Mid Winter Celebration Market and the Christmas Twilight Market. Annual events at BAC include Wind Air Water on World Environment Day, Melbourne Cup at BAC and
Australia Day. Throughout 2014 Belconnen Arts Centre will celebrate the Centenary of Canberra on a number of kite making and flying events, including Kite Flying on Canberra Day at
Lake Burley Griffin.

Belconnen Arts Centre was the winner of an ACT Chief Minister's Inclusion Award in 2010 and 2012 and strives to offer an environment that is accessible and engaging to all. The Centre is home to four ACT Community Cultural Inclusion Officers - the CCIOs work together with the community to present events that welcome and include every person in Canberra.

Belconnen Arts Centre continues to be the home of fun, creativity and expression in the Belconnen region. We look forward to welcoming you to BAC in 2014!
