About us

Belconnen Arts Centre is located in the North of Canberra and is the growing hub for creativity and expression in the North Canberra region. Opened in 2009, the Centre has been opened for 5 years, and has its Stage 2 completion in its sights. In 2012-13 the ACT Government allocated $300,000 for the feasibility and forward design for the construction of Stage 2.

Naturally, a Book

A small team of staff, supported by a number of volunteers, work together to present a broad program of events to engage the community - in Belconnen and beyond. The Centre hosts a program of outstanding events including exhibitions, creative workshops, dance performances, concerts, markets and festivals.

The exhibition program attracts visual artists both locally and nationally, who present work of all mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, design and multimedia. The Centre also runs a very successful Artist in Residence program that involves artists from around Australia, applications are always welcome.

Creative Workshops are engaging and varied and are often presented by artists who have work included in the exhibition program. Art classes for kids of all ages encourage children to experiment and get creative, while having lots of fun!

The Centre is home to a Dance Studio where classes of all genres are taught, including Bollywood, Hilal, Flamenco, Sumba, Hip Hop and Dancehall. There are a variety of classes for children, adults and seniors. The concert program has featured Jazz, World, Chamber, Rock, Local, Blues and everything in between. Concerts are performed in the spacious Foyer area.

Belconnen Arts Centre has a strong focus on inclusion and bringing accessible arts activities to everyone in our community. Belconnen Arts Centre was the winner of the ACT Chief Minister's Inclusion Award in 2012 and 2013. The Centre is home to three ACT Community Cultural Inclusion Officers. The CCIOs work together with the community to present events that welcome and include those most in need in our community.

We look forward to welcoming you to BAC.
