About us

Belconnen Arts Centre (BAC) is the place where stories come together. Opening in September 2009, the Centre has swiftly established itself as an essential and driven community arts organisation. The core philosophy is to fuel a love of and engagement with the arts. BAC presents dance, music, visual arts, theatre and more to engage with the growing and increasingly diverse residents of North West ACT.

Spring Winds Festival

A small team of staff, supported by a number of volunteers, work together to present a broad program of events. Placing inclusion and community arts and cultural development front and centre, BAC develops, shares and celebrates creativity. Welcome to the creative hub of the North West!

Resident companies

Based at Belconnen Arts Centre, three resident music companies bring a diverse program and flavour to North West Canberra.

Musica Viva

Musica Viva is Australia’s oldest independent professional performing arts organisation.  Basing their office at Belconnen Arts Centre with their mainstage concert series at Llewellyn Hall, this truly national company is the world's largest presenter of chamber music.  A significant part of Musica Viva’s activities includes outreach and education through Musica Viva in Schools, and the Canberra office runs professional development events and masterclasses from Belconnen Arts Centre several times a year.

Griffyn Ensemble

Described as “akin to a religious experience” (The Australian), and “Canberra’s premier chamber ensemble” (CityNews), The Griffyn Ensemble are a theatrical chamber ensemble, who break down the barriers of genre and recontextualise music from around the world.

Young Music Society

The Young Music Society is a Canberra based not-for-profit society, which musically inspires young Canberrans through Holiday Programs, Weekly Programs, and Instrument Hire. School Holiday Programs and regular children's workshops are presented by YMS at Belconnen Arts Centre.
