The landscape holds elements of shape and pattern. Ficken explores these patterns and reduces them down to their underlying geometric composition. Alternate Landscape uses steel rod to create a strong linear geometry reflecting the environment of the Belconnen Arts Centre, referencing the natural surroundings and the fabric of the building itself. Elizabeth Ficken was awarded this exhibition by Belconnen Arts Centre as part of The Australian National University School of Art Emerging Artist Support Scheme.
