Eve Sawa’s work combines her interest in the alpine environment surrounding Mt Kosciuszko and the ecological issue of rising annual temperatures which threatens its sustainability. Her large-scale vertical canvases confine the seemingly infinite landscape and generate a heightened sense of immersion in this unique alpine terrain.
In Taoism there are two polar energies which, by their fluctuation and interaction, are the cause of the universe: Yin – the moon, night and flexibility, and Yang – light, the sun, day, strength. Marilyn Stretton investigates the negative and positive energies that are at play in the cosmos, and seeks to capture this fluctuating energy in nature and in our own lives.
