Window on Art

Second Wednesday each month > 10:30am–12:30pm
Gallery tour, cuppa and conversation, followed by a short workshop to put it all into action! This is a new art program created for over 55’s, interested and keen to develop their knowledge and art-making skills. Inspiring professional artists will lead you along a diverse and fascinating art journey. All levels of experience welcome! Belconnen Arts Centre is presenting this project with the support of the Adult & Community Education grants initiative of the ACT Government.

9 May - Rosina Wainwright

A short introduction to making work from stuff that other people throw away.  Just because something may be broken or no longer loved does not mean it may not have another life.  We will look at the sculpture in the exhibition and Rosina will talk about where she found the ‘rubbish’ for her work and how she adapted it.  After a break for morning tea we will look at other people’s work using found material.  Artists have been making work like this for over 100 years.  Australia has strong tradition of assemblage.  We will then have time to make our own small work.  All materials will be provided, just bring your imagination and a trust that you can make something that is meaningful for you.
