Mirabel Fitzgerald

Showing > 21 October – 12 November in the Main Gallery

Exhibition Opening > 5.30pm, Friday 20 October all welcome

The works are a response to living and working by the sea in the spotted gum forest of the South Coast. The images originate in descriptions of the environment although they frequently become abstracted in the studio process.  A fascination with the textures that recur through the markings on trees, rocks and beach detritus, translate into various works on paper; prints. rubbings, and drawings.

In Residence > 12noon – 4pm, Saturday 21 October and 29 October 12:00pm – 2:00pm

Mirabel will be sitting in with the exhibition, a great opportunity to meet and chat with her.

Exhibition Live >

Artists in Conversation 2:00pm, Saturday 29 October – Join in conversation with Mirabel as she illuminates both the ideas and content of her work as well as discussing the techniques and processes used. Some of the prints are familiar mediums such as Etching and Screen-printing, others are experimental processes such as rubbings combined with pigment colouring and collage. The source of ideas is the textures and patterning of the bush and sea-coast environment where the artist lives.
