Glass Weave is the second solo exhibition of new works in hot blown and kiln formed glass inspired by traditional Aboriginal woven eel traps, fish traps and baskets by Jenni Kemarre Martiniello. It pays tribute to the survival of the oldest living weaving practices in the world through the contemporary medium of glass, which together are living expressions of cultural survival. With their emphasis on the interplay of light and form, weave and colour so richly evocative of the traditional and natural worlds, these works assert an unmistakable presence which transforms perception and challenges expectations.
