This annual visual exhibition gives artists experiencing disability and disadvantage an opportunity to challenge the way people think about and see disability, and coincides with the 2012 International Day of People with Disability. Awareness describes a state of consciousness in which one is alert, awake and consciously aware of one’s thoughts, feelings, words and actions. This year’s theme allows artists to take charge of their awareness and self-esteem by declaring I AM… This ownership allows the artists to celebrate who they are and what makes them unique and valued members in their family and our community.
