Having studied a classical Indian dance style called Bharathanatyam since age six, and with the firm belief that ‘dance is good for your bones,’ Krisha Jilson created Canberra School of Bollywood Dancing (CSBD) in 2006 in order to share her love of this high-energy and colourful form of dance. Over a decade later, CSBD has offered students the chance to perform at a Raiders game at GIO Stadium, participate in the production of a local Bollywood movie, and even be the first to dance inside a Qantas plane!

If you don’t like going to the gym, try a Bollywood Dance class! Offering a variety of styles, such as modern, hip hop, salsa, semi-classical and Bhangara, the combination of vibrant music and energetic moves engage both left and right brain function, assist in overcoming coordination issues, improve balance and bone density, and is sexy, silly fun! Offering the highest level of expert training, CSBD’s focus is on fun group lessons. Anyone can learn Bollywood-style dance; no previous experience is needed, simply a love of foot-tapping music and fun! Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely (e.g. track pants, t-shirt, skirt). Dancing is done barefoot. Non-slip socks, dance sneakers or jazz shoes may be worn. Please bring a bottle of water & arrive on time so that you don’t miss out on the warm-up routine.
