Naomi Zouwer is a practicing artist, published illustrator and experienced and qualified Arts Educator. She has taught all levels from preschool to tertiary, and is currently a sessional lecturer at the ANU School of Art and Design. She has also worked as an educator in museums and galleries. Naomi is a cross-disciplinary artist who works with drawing, painting, and textile mediums to make works that engage with ideas of identity, cultural heritage and the social role of domestic objects.
Join Naomi as she takes you through drawing basics to finished artwork for publication. You will learn storyboarding and character development techniques. You will be guided through the illustration process and will experiment with a variety of media and illustration styles to develop a portfolio of illustrations.
|30 Oct:||Introduction to illustration processes and materials – including ink, watercolour, collage and textile mediums.|
|6 Nov:||Focus on character development. Create orthographic projections of your characters and learn how to create facial expressions and convey personality through body language and silhouettes.|
|13 Nov:||Focus on storyboarding – experiment with different viewpoints and create interesting frames.|
Developing illustrations – work on developing your own style for an illustration project.
|27 Nov:||Developing and refining illustrations for your illustration project.|
|4 Dec:||Finishing works and mini in-class exhibition.|
