Be transported by the rhythm and the beat of the music as you move your body in fun and creative ways! Nia consists of easy to learn movement patterns inspired by martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. While participants are led by the instructors, the philosophy of Nia is about finding joy and pleasure in movement rather than getting it “right or wrong”. Everyone is encouraged to move in their body’s own way and to adapt the moves and intensity to suit their body’s own needs. Our focus is on having fun, providing a safe space and bringing health and vitality to our body, mind and spirit.

Nia is an expressive body-mind-spirit movement practice that is taught in 45 countries around the world. It was created as an alternative to the “no pain, no gain” attitude to fitness. Each routine is set to eclectic music that motivates every part of your body to move. Part choreographed, part free-form, Nia invites people to step into a playful relationship with their bodies and movement.

Just turn up 10 minutes before class to register. Wear comfy clothes and bring a drink bottle. Nia is practised with bare feet but you are welcome to wear soft shoes if your feet need them. New starters are welcome at any time throughout the term.

Jen, Kerryn and Laurien of Nia Dance

Laurien, Jen & Kerryn.

Amanda has been instructing Nia Dance at Belconnen Arts Centre for two years, and Jen, Kerryn and Laurien have been co-teaching for over three years. All are qualified Blue Belt instructors with a wealth of experience in functional and creative movement. Together they create a welcoming and joyful environment for all participants.

$20 | Casual, per class

Passes do not expire. Just turn up 10 minutes before class to register.
