Nia with Amanda
Mondays > 6:30pm – 7:30pm
(during ACT Government school terms)
Nia is an expressive body-mind-spirit movement practice that is taught in 45 countries around the world. It was created as an alternative to the “no pain, no gain” attitude to fitness. Each routine is set to eclectic music that motivates every part of your body to move. The choreography is drawn from the martial arts, a range of dance styles and yoga. Part choreographed, part free-form, Nia invites people to step into a playful relationship with their bodies and movement. You are encouraged to dance in your own body’s way. It is about feeling the joy of movement as you strengthen and tone your body which leaves you feeling energised and alive at the end of each class.
Classes run for 60 minutes, are conducted barefoot and are suitable for all ages and body types. While instructors lead choreographed movement patterns, there is no “right or wrong” and everyone is encouraged to move in their body’s way and to have fun! Wear loose comfortable clothing, bring a drink bottle and join at any time of the term. If you are a new starter, arrive 10 minutes early to register.
