Insieme: Dance for Parents & Children are fun and inclusive workshops for the whole family that aim to provide a space for quality family time, moving and dancing in a playful and creative environment. Debora’s workshops are based on the idea that ‘dance is for everyone’ and that both parent and child can benefit from creative movement and dance. ‘Insieme’ means together; this workshop series is the perfect opportunity to discover the beauty of movement relationships, play, fun and creativity in dance. Join Debora for a movement journey with your children!
About Debora di Centa >
Debora di Centa grew up in Italy and started dancing at a young age. She has extensive training in Graham and Laban techniques as well as contemporary dance and choreography. Debora has studied and collaborated in dance works, research and performances with Laban experts and other dance specialists around Europe. She has worked in Italy for many years, collaborating with dance collectives and other independent artists as well as teaching dance and movement classes in schools. Debora is currently based in Canberra, pursuing her professional development around Australia, New Zealand and internationally. She teaches, performs, choreographs, and directs dance events in both professional and community settings. Since 2016, Debora has led the Canberra Contact Improvisation community. She also teaches in the Dance For Wellbeing program at Belconnen Arts Centre, Pre-Professional at Canberra Dance Development and creates her own works through ISEMS Projects. Her motto is ‘Dance for All!’
Each one-hour workshop will start with an opening dance followed by a series of set exercises and a mix of creative tasks, sometimes with object interaction (scarfs, balls, colouring and musical instruments). The workshops develop movement awareness, strength and flexibility both for parents and their children, and each workshop creates a safe and fun environment for all participants, where they can develop through set movement material and creative movement practice. Please wear clothing that is comfortable to move in and bring a water bottle to the workshop.
$150 | Per child
A parent or guardian must attend with the child.
